Understanding your littles hair

Parent Hair Tips

Smiling Girl in Red

Curl Pattern
What the hair looks like

  • Straight- No Curl, lays flat, gets oily fast

  • Wavy- Soft waves, gets frizzy

  • Curly- Spirals, gets dry easily

  • Coily/kinky- Tight curls/ coils, very fragile

Curl pattern is just the look, not moisture or strength

Cute Girl

Hair Thickness

  • Fine hair- Delicate, tangles easily

  • Medium hair- Common

  • Coarse Hair- Thick and Strong, needs more moisture

  • Can feel wiry

Coarse hair just needs more moisture

Porosity( How hair takes moisture)

  • Low Porosity- Takes time to get wet, products sit on top of hair

  • Medium- Absorbs  water well

  • High Porosity- Gets wet fast & dries fast
